Santana High School students with teacher Robert Schlarmann won this yearu2019s LA Countyu2019 Streets to the Sea Environmental Challenge. Santana was the only continuation high school and beat out public, charter, private and u201CAcademyu201D high schools to take top honors. They were first selected as one of 5 finalists and today made their presentation to judges and visitors at Disney Studios in Burbank. They were picked up and shuttled to/from the studios/school by taxi (an experience in itself) and then presented the research, findings and recommendations to u201Cmysteryu201D judges mixed in with an audience of industry, business and educators. The competition is sponsored by the LA County Department of Public Works.<br> <br>The school for winning will receive a class field trip to the LACOE floating laboratory including transportation. We anticipate that this trip will occur in the fall of 2015.
